Create a Meta developer app
At developers.facebook.com create an app and add the WhatsApp product. Meta gives you a free test number to start with.
- 2
Collect four values
From WhatsApp → API Setup: the Phone Number ID and WhatsApp Business Account ID. Create a permanent access token through a System User (temporary tokens expire in about a day). From App settings → Basic: the App Secret.
- 3
Give them to Connect
Open Integrations → WhatsApp and paste the values — or paste them straight into the work engine chat and ask it to connect.
- 4
Connect checks them
Connect verifies the values with WhatsApp before saving. If something is wrong you'll get a clear reason instead of a silent failure.
- 5
Send a test message
Ask the work engine to WhatsApp a customer who has a phone number saved. With a test number, the recipient must be on your approved list in Meta.
- Your credentials are stored encrypted and never shown back.
- Messaging a customer who hasn't written to you in the last 24 hours needs an approved message template on WhatsApp's side, which Connect doesn't support yet.
- You can disconnect at any time from Integrations or by asking the work engine.
